News NEW ORLEANS, La. — Earlier this morning, on March 30, 2026, New Orleans-based political activist and chairwoman of the New Orleans Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression (NOAARPR), Toni Jones, was arrested for exercising her First Amendment rights to free speech and to petition the government at a meeting of the New Orleans City Council’s Criminal Justice Committee. NOAARPR is the New Orleans affiliate of the National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression, a national organization fighting against police crimes and police brutality and for community control over policing across the United States. They are currently involved in a protracted campaign concerning the murder of Jace Lee Scott by Andrew Gant, the son of New Orleans police officer Victor Gant.
